In the late 1980’s Steve and Carol Girard, seduced by the Pinot Noir grape, left Napa Valley to pioneer the remote southern Willamette Valley. They found their perfect estate, a 145-acre sheep farm that was free from chemicals or prior plantings, and they knew this land was capable of growing silky, elegant and complex Pinot Noir. Today, Benton-Lane wines have received more top 100 Wines of the World than any other still wine producer in Oregon and Steve continues to farm his now-legendary estate using a blend of organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices.

2015 Benton-Lane Estate Pinot Noir 750ml

2015 was another fine, warm year with full ripeness in the fruit which allowed the fruit notes in the wine to be more black fruit driven (boysenberry, black cherry, blueberry and cassis) than red fruit (cherry, cranberry and raspberry). This brings more depth and concentration to the wine, along with a fine balance with all components getting along well with each other. This makes the wine a synergy and much more enjoyable. The wine is rich and deep with flavors of boysenberry, cassis and white pepper. On the finish is the sweet flavor of toasted oak from over-priced French wine barrels. This wine will wow when served with roast lamb.

2015 Benton-Lane First Class Pinot Noir 750ml

This is a luxurious, deep, rich wine from another warm vintage. As such, our vines were able to extract full flavors from our sustainably farmed soils. The wine team then spent two months evaluating the 900 or so barrels and then blending the best of the best to make this special wine. The fruit notes are mainly black cherry with a hint of cranberry. Then the wine develops in the mouth with floral, mocha and cola notes. This is a deep, layered wine that takes some patience to appreciate. The overall impression it leaves is a truly balanced luxurious offering that will bring tears when offered with fresh roast spring lamb. This wine will develop over the next ten years.

2016 Benton-Lane Pinot Gris 750ml

At Benton-Lane, we take Pinot Gris seriously. Three of our Top 100 Wines of the World were for this loveable white wine. We slowly ferment the fresh whole cluster pressed juice to allow the release of the aromatic floral notes. 2016 was another warm vintage that gave us another crisp, easy to enjoy Gris. Once again the aroma is delicate honeysuckle blossoms. The flavor begins with honeydew melon and then develops into fresh key lime with hints of white peach. The wine has excellent natural acidity and is great with Asian spiced dishes, oysters, or by itself chilled on the river or lake.

2016 Benton-Lane Rosé 750ml

The wine is medium bodied with cranberry and cherry pie flavors with a hint of fresh rhubarb. The finish is clean with a beautiful balance of acidity. Because of this, it will be fabulous with eatables all the way from fresh popcorn to savory pasta dishes and grilled seafood. If the flavors aren't enough, the color will roll your socks up and down. Is is the most beautiful Rose we have ever made. Try it soon; it won't be around long.
