The 2017 Pinot Noir Sea View Ridge is pale to medium ruby with aromas of lush black cherries, baked cranberries, orange peel, warm dusty earth and rhubarb with hints of Earl Grey tea and a lovely spicy undercurrent. Very spicy in the mouth, it's light to medium-bodied and silky with seamlessly woven grainy tannins an a long, nuanced finish.

The 2017 Flowers Pinot Meunier is a unique presentation of sun-dried cherry, roasted herbs, cracked black pepper and minerals that’s asking to be taken seriously alongside its headliner sibling. This is the smallest production wine we offer – only 150 cases made in 2017 – and it remains a rare treat for the adventurous palate.

The 2017 growing season began with sustained rainfall throughout January and February, replenishing soil nutrients and resulting in healthy, vigorous vines. In total our vineyards saw 80″of rain, a welcomed sight after five years of prolonged drought. Steady weather led to budbreak in mid-March, a return to normalcy compared to prior years. A summer of gradual warmth indicated a textbook growing season until July, when we experienced a period of sustained warmth. August delivered much-needed cooler weather, allowing the clusters to develop complex flavors while maintaining their signature acidity. Unpredictable spells of extreme heat throughout September created challenges for many vineyards, however our dry-farmed vines were perfectly suited to thrive in the conditions. Cooling marine air arrived just in time to bring our vineyards to ideal harvesting conditions as our 2017 growing season came to an end. Warmer temperatures in 2017 translated to a beautiful intensity of fruit and a supple, evolved texture. Already enticing in the glass, the wines will grow even more alluring as they age.

All fruit was hand-picked and fed by gravity into a neutral wood tank for a cold
soak at 50 degrees for 6 days prior to native fermentation. The wine underwent
manual punch-downs twice a day and was left in contact with the skins for 18
days of total tank time. The finished wine was pressed on the skins using a modern
basket press and transferred directly to barrel. Cellared in 100% French oak, 25%
new, for 14 months. Unfined and unfiltered before bottling.

Sourced entirely from our organically farmed Sea View Ridge Vineyard. Given
the extremes of this site, including elevations of 1,400 to 1,875 feet, each small
block ripens at its own pace. The soils on the ridge tops are shallow and rocky
with a mix of volcanic soils in the lower blocks and broken sandstone and shale
higher up which naturally restrains yields. This Pinot Meunier was sourced
exclusively from Block 19, where the slope is so steep that the vines are terraced
and soils are shallow, rocky and heavily influenced by volcanic intrusions and high
iron content. Planted in 1998, these Pinot Meunier vines produce fruit with layers
of complexity and wines with exceptional concentration and natural acidity
